And she wept in her pillow
as if she were weeping in his arms

he could feel her hot tears on his chest

and he knew that he must find a way
to make her world better in any capacity that he could
everything he did
his days and nights
his purpose
was to see her smile
not for his own smile
but because his world existed in her smile
because the world was her smile
because he had to reach her
to find a place beyond the constant sadness in her eyes
earth she had not touched yet
he had to give her a reason to chose a life outside of her world
and this
this he knew
would give her her smile
a smile that might come from deep within her eyes
as if radiating from her soul
the one she had not met yet
